I wonder if anyone would like to comment on the following RFT?
Is this "HealthConnect" revisited albeit for a sub-set of community care
patients and organised by a different departmental silo?
Will it merely provide consultants with more mullah to reinvent the
wheel with respect to unique patient identifiers, consent models, record
security, privacy, central vs distributed systems, etc (which I thought
had been well canvassed in HealthConnect documentation)?
Or is this an appropriate way to tackle a genuine problem?

Ken,
I went to the website. I'm asleep already.
I come from an Aged Care/Community Health background. These agencies are
mostly less-well resourced than health, even if that seems impossible.
I suspect lots of DoHA kite-flying and the desire to appear to be doing
something are the main motivations.
If you hear of a substantial budget allocation, let us know, otherwise
it's back to blanket-bay.
Or it might be wanting to cash in on the access card proposals, way, way
down the track.
Even the Managed Health Networks initiative seems to be a lot more PR
than substance, and DoHA aren't telling applicants anything, so I guess
they are making it up as they go along.
A few lucky applicants might find they end up with a lot less money than
they actually need to do anything useful
