I am back online - I changed my machine's network IP address on the LAN from a fixed allocation to an automatic and am now back online - at a markedly faster than before speed as well - beats me why this has happened.
I must admit I cannot for the live of me remember why I had to set it up with a fixed IP in the first place - I am too bloody tired after a terrible two weeks of getting to bed after midnight and being back at work before 8AM. I'm sure something will stop working soon enough and remind me why I had it set-up like that T -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Thinus van Rensburg Sent: Thursday, 19 October 2006 10:15 PM To: General Practice Computing Group Talk; [EMAIL PROTECTED]; Uncensored mailing list for Oz GPs Subject: [Nat-Div] Lost internet access at home on my PC Hi Something bizarre has happened on my home PC - When I got home tonight I could not access my internet or e-mail. Using IE6/MS Office. MSMessenger does not log in either. I get a DNS error on the MSM and IE and Outlook simply cannot connect. I can however get on Skype and is currently using my e-mail at work via a SSH link on the same machine. Internet access is therefore working - Riana's machine on the same modem/router is fine therefore the internet connection to the home network is not the problem. Last week I took a change and downloaded a program called TVANTS and TVU player that allows one to view various satellite TV channels on your PC - type of P2P video network that is supposed to be all legal and I could not find any warnings on Google about it. Ada-aware, MS Defender and Spybot scans after I installed the programs all came up clear. These programs still works fine but i wonder if it has something to do with my problem and have somehow hijacked my machine Can anyone please help - please don't lecture me about my choice of Software - I know a change is overdue but I need to fix my problem now, not get a speech Thanks T _______________________________________________ The Nat-Div rules and recommendations are at: http://www.gp.org.au/GPDivmailer.html __________ NOD32 1.1814 (20061019) Information __________ This message was checked by NOD32 antivirus system. http://www.eset.com _______________________________________________ Gpcg_talk mailing list [email protected] http://ozdocit.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/gpcg_talk
