hi, and apologies for the cross post
an nvidia 6600 card i am interested in claims it can do 1920x1200 at

if the refresh rate is lowered to 60hx (approppriate for the dell

driver related given bigger screens will do it with the same card ?
i must say i can't tell the difference when i swap the colour depth

to buy a "new" card
Ash,
I always think that running a higher refresh rate than 60Hz is more
important than 32-bit colour. I can't see the difference between 16 and
32 bt either, but avoiding the flicker at 60 Hz means a lot more to me.
I'd also stay with Radeon cards over GeForce any day, but that is a more
'personal' preference than a practical one.
As you seem to be on AGP, if the box is getting a bit 'old', I wouldn't
invest too much in a high-end AGP card, as it may become obsolete when
the replacement only supports PCI-X. DVI or no DVI is the other issue,
but most cards support it now.
