All this fancy modelling to try and create machine readable/interpretable records/DB systems is all well and good. But the fundamental issues is that there isnt a platform that all could use for do research in this area. I say there should be a suite of software including records/appointments/billing that people could use as a platform for further research. Joe average GP isnt going to be keen on maintaining separate systems for these functions. The interface for this would have to be open, even if the program itself is proprietary. Ideally database schemas could be easily setup using conventional tools, depending on higher order models such as OpenEHR. Presumably OpenEHR could be run on any backend DB system ?
