*Electronic claiming – /New & Improved Claiming System!!/*

AMA has been working closely with the Federal Government on electronic claiming of Medicare rebates over the past three years. Electronic Medicare claiming is a fast, easy and convenient new claiming channel which will be available in the second half of this year. It allows you and your patients to lodge Medicare claims using the existing EFTPOS terminals already in most surgeries.

I meant to ask also:

I understand that there may be 174 million transactions per year through this new system, and that the Commonwealth bank will be paid 23 cents per transaction, amounting to $40 million annually. Does the AMA believe that these figures are correct? If it does, does the AMA think that the 23 cent fee and the projected income to the Commonwealth Bank are reasonable?
