Hi All,

Remember this recommendation is for Messaging Standards..What NEHTA wants to do
regarding
EHR Standards is a different bowl of potatoes.

It seems we may now see adoption and use in Australia of CDA R2 constrained
messages for
the areas like discharge summaries, referrals, prescribing and so in. This is
the approach
being adopted in the UK. Standards like CCD may become important.

A standard like this - once implemented - can get us way towards sharable
records.

Patient Management System vendors should be pressuring NEHTA on what the
internal message
standard is to be..it surely cannot the the 500 page monsters released recently
by NEHTA.

This is in my view an important strategic shift from NEHTA - and is welcome to
the extent
it signals they will do better in listening to industry sentiment and health
sector needs
as well as simple practicality.

Cheers

David.
