Dear Colleagues, Because we are concerned to ensure that Health sector communications is done correctly we have undertaken a detailed study of how an interconnection model should work. We have also looked at how the NEHTA standards should be applied to this task and addressed this within the first draft of this document which I hope you will find to be of interest. We have now prepared a scoping study and are ready to speak with other messaging vendors about it. Please feel free to circulate and discuss. You will find it on the URL below. http://www.healthlink.net/healthlink_documents/Messaging.Networks.Interc onnection.V1.pdf <http://www.healthlink.net/healthlink_documents/brochure/Electronic%20me ssaging%20safety%20Issues%20-%20HealthLink%20viewpoint.pdf> As my colleague Geoff Sayer has indicated we have also prepared and are currently circulating a proposed Code of Practice to accompany the interconnection agreement this is available at the following URL. http://www.healthlink.net/healthlink_documents/Code.of.Practice(Draft.fo r.Comment).pdf <http://www.healthlink.net/healthlink_documents/Code.of.Practice(Draft.f or.Comment).pdf>
We have also produced a document some of you may have seen outlining the major problems in the messaging environment at the present time , read the document on the URL below. http://www.healthlink.net/healthlink_documents/brochure/Electronic%20mes saging%20safety%20Issues%20-%20HealthLink%20viewpoint.pdf As I hope you can see, we are very keen to work with those other service providers that want to do the job properly. In our view, those that are not prepared to it properly should rethink what they are doing before they create a major headache for the sectror as a whole. A single major medical misadventure would set the Australian health sector back by a number of years.
