I didnt mean to kick up an ants next in raising this matter on our Argus
users listserver, but just wanted to point out that unless Divisions are
made aware that GPs consider issues to be important, then AGPN may not
be sensitised to it. To be fair to Kate, she is quite supportive of the
Argus initiative, openness and interoperability and all that this
implies.
So she personally recognises the issues, but has a constituency
(Divisions) and a board that may determine priorities.
I must engage with Dr Chris Pearce who is the AGPN board's IT
Coordinator to see what his take is on these issues is.

A local push to ensure Kate is fully informed is highly recommended at each
of our divisions.
Sad thing about bureaucracy is the bigger it gets the slower and less
efficient it becomes! The quote "this issue is not currently on the AGPN
radar" is a worry! I hope it was in context of another question or issue; If
not the AGPN executive may need to have a close look at itself.

Many thanks for informing us of this, Ross, and for your efforts.
Possibly the only thing on the AGPN (formerly ADGP) agenda at the moment is
self-preservation ... They are in danger of extinction due to general
uselessness and irrelevance.
The appropriate political pathway would be:
1) A local GP (such as myself) alerts the local Division CEO and Board of
Mangement of the problem/ need.
2) The local Division endorses the problem/ need/ plan of action, and the
local GP alerts his local Federal MP of the problem, and that this has the
endorsement of the local Division.
3) The local MP alerts the Federal Health Minister (Tony).
The outcome of this is likely to be that some useless advisor will write
back saying that they have NeHTA overseeing the implementation of eHealth in
Oz.
And that is where things will stall - with NeHTA, until someone with a bit
of action can accidentally find their way into the inner sanctum of NeHTA.
I'll do my best with 1) and 2) above, Ross.

views on the need for interoperability between messaging service
providers, and how important an issue this is becoming for General
Practice.

I was surprised to be informed that although Kate understands and
acknowledges the problem, AGPN has not received any significant call

seems this issue is not currently on the AGPN radar.
I think her words were something like "AGPN has not received any call

client software on their desktop, or the need to soleve the
interoperability problem. Hence AGPN is not being pushed to help
resolve these issues". "The only discussion on this issue has come

What are your views on these related issues? Should AGPN be made more
aware so that it is on their radar?
