Craig you reminded me of something else you can run on profile...
Matt Davies once told me he used a modified version of Profile to record his
Profile client visits and details.
So you can run an I.T. support business on it :)

Craig B in Newcastle NSW

We are mostly happy profile users

30 gig db running MS SQL version , sbs 2003, 8 consulting rooms, 1 dual
nurse treatment room, we would be "fully paperless" but for the lack of
agreed stds for electronically moving referrals and inbound specialist
letters

It effortlessly handles about 400 tasks per day (no sticky notes!!) , 160 pg
of scanning and about 500 recall letters a month, 25 on site terminals, up
to 15 off site terminal service links in for Drs working from home etc

I regularly send suggestions or complaints about issues to Intrahealth and
get a good response rate. I try to be positive and constructive in looking
at "ISSUES" (mind you we are a bit strange in that "I" am first level help
so we as an in house rule try not to pester Intrahealth help desk unless we
have double checked it is a real issue and not just a user preference or
user inexperience issue)

The software seems limitless in its potential to be manipulated to specific
in house needs - so like writing a letter in MS Word we are not bound to
someone else's view of what the letter should or should not look like.

Like all software it has its down sides - happy to discuss these

I think the key issue or "word of warning" for using profile is
understanding it is not "out of the box" It is a very open platform for YOU
to determine how it will be used in your business. I jokingly and seriously
say to people I could run the Ancorr hotel group or A whole hospital or a
general practice with profile - it will flexibly adapt to all these
environments.
