The medicines terminology was meant to be done years ago. I think the WAlter and turnbull consultancy report to the Medicines Coding Council of Australia reported in November 2002. Progess (if one can call it that) since is charted here - Aust Catalog of Medicines:

The problem as usual is giving the job to people who have no pecuniary interest in the end user (health care worker) or consumer value proposition
