We have our phone system set up with one autodial button as hands free(so you don't need to pick up the handset to press it) and labeled HELP. The techs have set it up so that when pressed it calls every extension in the surgery and we can all then hear what is going on in the room where the button was pressed. We have an in house protocol that if the button is pressed then everyone is to come out of their rooms and respond (the display tells us from which room the call came). In addition our reception staff have an under desk button that automatically calls our security company who have been instructed to call the police if it is pressed. Our local police have been briefed that if called we need them urgently.
We feel this is a reasonably cheap and reliable system. We have tested it in non urgent situations but have not yet needed to use it in real life (in place for about 7 years). On one occasion the panic button at reception was pressed accidentally and the police were there within 10 minutes. Like Horst, I don't think fiddling with a computer in an emergency is going to work. regards Rob Hosking James wrote: > > Hi all > > > > Does anyone have or know of a alert/alarm messaging service to use in > doctors rooms to alert front desk and other rooms of dangerous > situations- Help needed and similar?
