We talked about it before but I don't think I've got a semi-official answer.

Can data be transferred in XML format between MD 3.6, 3.5, 2.8 and 2.9?

David,

Is this useful?

Hi Greg,

Our network managed to find out the info...thought I'd send this on to
you in case you're interested:

Context:

I have tried looking for specific instructions to export patient
clinical data from MD3 to MD2 and then back again (from MD2 to MD3).

The latest documentation from HCN states they have upgraded their
import/export facility (including MD2) but I can't find any clear
instructions.

The scenario is a GP with MD3 at the practice and works in an Aged Care
Home with MD 2. He wants to export his patients from the practice (MD3)
and import them at the home (MD2). Then periodically he wants to import
the files back from the home to his practice database.

Solution:

1. At the practice: from MD 3 from HCN Maintenance export clinical data
and save in xml format

2. At the home: from MD2 Maintenance import the clinical data and select
xml format. (Be aware that when importing into MD2, no user on the
network can have MD2 running.)

3. At the home: from MD2 export the clinical data in xml format. While
in patient record select Tools > Export Patient

4. At the practice MD 3 from HCN Maintenance import the clinical data
and select xml format

The only problem with Point 3 is that you have to do the patients one by
one in MD2, go into the patient record and then export, open next
patient export etc etc.

The export feature from within MD3 patient file isn't there (well I
couldn't find it!) as it isn't really necessary.

Is this documented anywhere yet? No, but Scott from HCN assures me it is
on their to do list and will email me immediately it is done.
