Matt, GPFS version 4.1.0-8 and prior had an issue with RHEL 7.1 systemd.
Red Hat introduced new changes is systemd that led to this issue.
Subsequently Red Hat issued an errata and reverted the changes to systemd (
https://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHBA-2015-0738.html). Please update the level
of systemd on your nodes which will address the issue.

Hello all,
Not sure if this is the a good place but we are experiencing a strange
issue.
It appears that systemd is un-mounting the file system immediately after
it is mounted.
#strace of systemd shows that the device is not there. Systemd sees
that the path is failed and umounts the device. Our only work around
currently is to link /usr/bin/umount to true. Then the device stays
mounted.
