How would that happen? The ID may not be random, but it is a long string string of digits:
[root@n2 gpfs-git]# mmlscluster GPFS cluster information ======================== GPFS cluster name: madagascar.frozen GPFS cluster id: 7399668614468035547 ANYHOW, I think you can fix your problem, by using: mmdelnode to retire nodes from the over-subscribed cluster. mmcrcluster to create a new cluster mmaddnode to join now unaffiliated nodes to the new cluster.
