Yes Arcastream aka Pixit Media aka Arcapix have a Pyhon API for a while.
They also wrote and shipped a GPFS GUI a long time before IBM.
You could ask them about Nirvana (cf. iRods) too ?
You could look up some of their presentations they have made at the GPFS-UG meetings.
eg from the UK GPFS-UG meeting at South Bank, London earlier this year:
There are other companies too that support GPFS and have written their own components and enhancements.
