Craig,

Spectrum Scale is a posix filesystem so most backup applications will be able to back it up in some manner or another
the backup applications that understand parallel filesystems will perform significantly better that those that do not.

Depending on what you are trying to achieve - using the Spectrum Scale Policy engine to create lists on the required backup items will be significantly faster and less overhead on the filesystem than a backup application that has to traverse the entire filesystem to work out what files it needs to back up.

I have not specifically tested any of the following but for your reference:

Commvault
https://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11/article?p=30518.htm

Veritas

Rubrik
https://www.rubrik.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/TechFAQ-NAS-Support.pdf  (reference is to SONAS rather than GPFS or Spectrum Scale specifically)

The only backup application that specifically integrates with the mmbackup command is Spectrum Protect
but as has been mentioned elsewhere depending on what level of effort you are prepared to go to you can probably make most if not all of the above platforms provide the backup integration that you desire.

I would also echo the comment of
"what is it you are trying to achieve - that you can not achieve with Spectrum Protect?"  The answer to which might shed some light on being able to provide better guidance to your question
