Dear Marcus,
sorry for bothering you again! I only wanted to ask whether my mail
from July 12 below has reached you!
Thanks, best regards, Dieter

Dear Marcus,
referring to my last mail I finally came back from vacations and
run the command: "env LANG=C gphoto2 --debug
--debug-logfile=my-logfile.txt --capture-image"
The output is attached. Please note that it is an Olympus C-40Zoom and
not, as reported by gphoto2, an Olympus C2040-Z. As I wrote already,
changing the memory card for several other ones did not help and a new
one is not available since long! It would be great if you found a way
of getting it to run!
Thanks a lot, best regards, Dieter

Hi Marcus,
thank you so much for the quick answer! I am afraid that this does
not help: I already tried replacing the card by another one (they are
very old and not available since long) but without avail. I am afraid
that something happened to the camera. I shall be on vacations for
about 2 weeks but shall come back to you with a debuglogfile. I find
it quite strange that all seems to work except from capturing a photo!
Best. Dieter

Hi,
I installed gphoto2 from the repository under Ubuntu-Mate

tried controlling an old Olympus C-40Z connected to a power supply.

3) gphoto2 --capture-preview ------- WORKS
4) gphoto2 --capture-movie--------- WORKS
5) However, when evoking gphoto2 --capture-image-and-download or just
gphoto2 --capture-image
I get:
*** Error ***
Packet was rejected by camera. Please contact
<gphoto-devel@lists.sourceforge.net>.
ERROR: Could not capture image.
ERROR: Could not capture.
What is wrong? So far I used Sabsik's Cam2Com running under Windows
XP to
control three identical cameras but wanted to finally migrate to
Linux.
There is a problem with the memory card as the camera says that it
is full
and it refuses to format it. With Cam2Com I, therefore, used direct
download
without storing the image on the memory card. Is there a way of
doing so
under gphoto2 as well? Maybe the error is related to the defective
internal
storage. I must say that I have used a number of the same type of
camera
over the years as all finally ended with one or another defect that
made
them useless. But this one still worked!
Currently our capture goes via card...
Can you not try to buy another card as quick workaround?
Also a debuglogfile might be useful, but it seems card related.
ciao, Marcus
