In general you can checkout libgphoto2 GIT and build it on your own, same way as libgphoto2 releases. The time problem is more getting the info and implementing it. Currently I have limited sparetime, so not sure when I can find the time to debug this. As for releases, as it takes me like 2 hours for a release, i am not doing them very often, it can take some months.
