Yes, you have to create the database using gtkpod before using your iPod. I
think duplicating this functionality in gPodder would be out of gPodder's
scope. There are these special programs like gtkpod which are able to
initialize the DB. It's probably not so easy to create the inital DB, so this
task should be left to gtkpod and friends.
