Thank you for your feature request. There are various reasons why we don't want
to "create gPodder as a Rhythmbox Plugin":

a) gPodder is a first-class citizen on a user's Desktop
b) Rhythmbox might be replaced by Banshee (or something else) in the future
c) gPodder is intended for ease of use, not a "all in one" app
d) gPodder is available in environments where Rhythmbox isn's (Maemo)
e) Rhythmbox already has podcast functionality built-in

gPodder offers more for the podcast user than Rhythmbox or any other media
player (Banshee, ...). It's podcast-centric, and that's why it will stay a
single app.

A possibility to improve podcasting for Rhythmbox users would be to allow
reading and displaying the gPodder local database in Rhythmbox by writing a
plugin that reads the gPodder database and shows it as if it was a local
playlist.

I've changed the title of this feature request accordingly. Any takers for this
one are gladly accepted, and I can offer mentoring for accessing the gPodder
database. If you can find a mentor from the Rhythmbox project for writing
plugins, this could be an interesting project for beginner-level developers.
