Summary: More human-readable file naming
Product: gPodder
Version: unspecified
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: feature request
Priority: low
Component: Application
AssignedTo: [email protected]
ReportedBy: [email protected]
It would be great if you could incorporate a portion of the podcast name, or
episode name at the beginning of the filename.
Some applications and hardware media players I use only refer to the podcast by
filename, not the ID3 tags. This makes the giant GUD filename impossible to use
- I understand why this is used in Gpodder, but perhaps the first 5 digits of
the podcast name could be used, with the GUID appended? It would make managing
the files much easier, and save putting them through a 'tag to file renamer',
as I have to do at the moment (which breaks the connection in Gpodder too).
Alternatively, storing the podcasts in a GUID directory structure, then leaving
the original podcast filename intact. This way Gpodder would still be able to
find the podcast (it would be the only MP3 in the GUID directory), but the
filename would be human-readable.
Here's hoping!
