Committed the change, shut down sqlitebrowser. Started gpodder. The window came up! Upon searching for new podcasts and beginning a download, the shell window had a lot of output about correcting file sizes, and resolving filename collisions. The filename collisions occur because some of my feeds that I pull use the same filename every day or twice a day. Hope that's not an issue down the road. Thanks for the pointer.
