I'm not sure what the design intention behind the change to address this
issue was, but it didn't quite work the way I expected it to. What actually
occurred is I had enough new podcasts that they would not fit on the player
without removing the ones that I had marked as played that were already on the
player. When I ran the sync, I received a yes/no dialog that reported the
space issue, and asked me if I wanted to continue. I selected yes. the sync
proceeded until it filled the player and then stopped. after I was sure it
wasn't transferring any more, I clicked cancel on the sync, at which point
gpodder deleted the old podcasts, freeing up space. I was then able to run the
sync again and it finished up transferring the new podcasts.
Ideally what I would like to see is a method that deletes old played
podcasts before it starts copying new podcasts on to the device when the
synchronization action is invoked.
