You were talking about using mutagen, but I think there might be a problem. Mutagen seems to be "strictly" GPLv2 (i.e. not "or later") and to my knowledge GPLv2 is incompatible with GPLv3, which gPodder is licensed under. I'm not sure what exactly is allowed in scripting languages such as Python. We wouldn't of course be linking mutagen with gPodder, gPodder would only call the mutagen API if it could determine at runtime that mutagen is installed.
