What's needed is "libwnck" and its "set_icon_geometry" function (after looking into Rhythmbox's code). I have tried experimenting with it, but it looks hack-ish and does not work reliable. I think we should be waiting until this function becomes available via a proper GtkStatusIcon API. I have filed a bug in the GNOME Bugzilla about this: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=609127 I'm closing this bug as WONTFIX, because I don't want to add an ugly workaround when this really should be fixed in the toolkit. It's not a blocker, but just a cosmetic issue, anyway.
