With the high-speed internet connections available today, it's not guaranteed
that server send rates always exceed client recv rates; especially not for
podcast server connections which often have to be affordable on a hobbyist
budget.
Therefore, gpodder can download faster if it downloads from more than one
server at once. That'll mean the user has to wait less, which will make the
user happier :)
(I'm using gpodder on maemo on an n900, but I think this applies to all
gpodders; what do I do then? File in both places?)
