Sorry, that's not the aim of gPodder. "Far too many" is also not descriptive
without numbers. There are a lots of content producers that provide their
content in a proper podcast feed that works with gPodder.

You can still do this in gPodder by writing a script that scrapes a web page
and produces a proper podcast feed out of it (e.g. using PyRSS2Gen) and then
subscribe to that feed using gPodder. You can also put that script online
somewhere and have it run automatically on every request or periodically using
cron.
