When starting gpodder, it looks for new episodes. Users can choose from the
preferences dialog to be presented with a list of new episodes and may select
those episodes they wish to download.
I usually select only a few episodes. With some versions, gpodder sometimes
showed a dialog on download completion that allowed me to mark the other
episodes I didn't select for download as old. For whatever reason, this dialog
is not shown anymore.
The way it is now episodes I didn't select for download are listed again and
again until I take the time to mark them as old by Pressing "Find new episodes"
(which seems to always download all xml files again and may take quite some
while) and then selecting old.
I'd suggest to either
(1) show this dialog again or
(2) add a button "Download and mark other episodes as old"
(3) add two columns of checkboxes to each episode: [ ] download [ ] old
(4) redownload xml files only after some timeout but not every time users
select "Find new episodes"
