after* updating all feeds the gui becomes unresponsive for a while, typically
around 15 seconds, during which CPU usage is v. high (>70).
after this period of time the application seems to return to normal.
this happens on my system every time I update my feeds by clicking on "check
for updates" - I've not had this problem with previous versions.
*I stress *after*, not during - obviously there is a delay to be expected
during update.
