Bug #: 1740
Summary: Extreme slowness 100% CPU loading episode lists
Classification: Unclassified
Product: gPodder
Version: 3.4.0
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: low
Component: Application
AssignedTo: [email protected]
ReportedBy: [email protected]
CC: [email protected]
Loading the episode list is extremely slow-- 15-30s with 100% CPU, almost as if
there is an infinite loop. The slowness happens on initial load, any time the
podcast selection is changed, or following an update check (when the episode
list is reloaded).
Earlier gPodder versions worked great until the conversion to the sqlite
database. Since then, any time I switch podcasts in the GUI, gPodder goes out
to lunch and my CPU fan goes crazy. (Likewise after it auto checks for
updates.) I thought version 3 might fix the bug, but it doesn't. Could my
database be corrupt? Should I try to export then import or something? I can
send my db if needed. I don't know why everyone else doesn't have this problem.
I have 345 episodes in the full list of all podcasts.
I can't imagine any algorithm that could take up so much CPU.
I used gpodder-migrate2tres to convert my version 2 database to version 3, but
has the same problem.
