Hello! After some hours of hacking today, I've come up with two nice improvements that are currently in development for gPodder:
* Performance improvements Logging help for time measurement; changes to libplayers should make startup and loading faster; improvements to DumbShelve and other parts of the code should make initial startup and loading really fast; also: limit number of episodes per-channel (this is configurable); some podcasts really have a looong list of items, which slows down loading * Splash screen Best viewed when using a compositing manager; should make gPodder startup a bit nicer (??) What do you think? Please test the attached patches (against the latest SVN trunk) and tell me what you think. The difference between the two patches is simply that one of them has the splash screen included and the other one has just the performance improvements. What do you think? Thomas
