Nick is right, although the problem you describe (trying to add a web page as a feed) yields a too unspecific error message, and gPodder should take care of that (probably autodetecting the feed URL if that's possible). We have found this problem in the Usability evaluation in May, too, so we should really fix that, as we now see this also happens in real-world scenarios :) The usability evaluation can be found at [1].
