As for the https, it currently doesn't do any form of verifications against the 
CA. (I'm actually working on a patch for this, but it isn't a simple road 
ahead). But if you're looking to have a fun afternoon, look in 
http://www.etherboot.org/share/sha0/gpxe/src/bin/doc/html/files.html for 
https.c and tls.h ... The difficulty with creating a truly secure https 
session, is the lack of random number generation on boot. 

If you're looking to do some form of authentication, I'd insert RSA keys that 
verify the md5 check, kinda like SSH-RSA token exchanges. Or look into using a 
boot.php file that checks versus a login...
