Unfortunately, Graphite only plots numerical data over time. It has no
capacity to draw icons or overlay a floorplan. It does not even plot
locations in any way.
I can't even recommend an OSS project that would suit your needs. I
think you'll have to implement something from a general purpose
graphics library, like Cairo.

New question #113546 on Graphite:
https://answers.launchpad.net/graphite/+question/113546
Is Graphite the system for me?
I am developing an asset tracking system, standard LAMP, and now am
wondering how best to present the data to the user.
I expect to track and most a few thousand items, and to refresh them
every second or so. I want to draw a floorplan or map of the area
and represent the assets the assets symbolically on that (with
different symbols for different classes of assets).
Additionally, the user should be able to click on an asset to
interact with it, and search for a particular asset and centre the
screen on it, draw a circle round it, etc
I suppose that my questions are:
- can Graphite plot different icons over a background of my florrplan?
- can Graphite handle a few thousand items updated at once every
second or so?
- can the user interact with the screen, clicking on an item and
causing my software to react?
Thanks in advance for any help.
