Running an Apache server that must be secured and having no desire to
learn about securing Apache are mutually exclusive concepts. Munin may
have a login page but if you're not using HTTPS and a trusted
certificate (both done at the Apache layer) you're not actually secure.
Passwords (or hashes) can be sniffed off the wire and stolen.
If you want basic auth, I urge you to learn about Apache's Digest auth
so you understand a bit more about security and what kind of risks
you're exposing yourself to.
