I installed graphite using the following fabric script, https://github.com/gingerlime/graphite-fabric/blob/master/fabfile.py which I believe installed the latest version of whisper. (http://pypi.python.org/pypi/whisper) After deleting the files, If i restart the carbon daemon it creates the empty whisper files, which same filename and directory hierarchy.
