Pierce Wetter confirmed that the question is solved:
Figured this out.
Basically, xFilesFactor is kind of dangerous if you have samples less
often than the roll up period because that actually means "throw out the
data if there aren't enough samples". Safest thing is to use
xFilesFactor = 0
