Forget it. One can already delete categories by right-clicking the
category in "Update categories" and choosing the option from a context
menu.
Sorry for the fuss.
This one of the reasons why there always needs to be a visible tool/
menu item somewhere in a GUI for anything that is selectable from a
right-click context menu.
