I redownloaded the newest versions of the frameworks and recompiled. It all seems to work OK now.

Now to fix the Python version...

The gdal 1.6 framework has a postgreSQL dependency that makes it fail when doing any kind of translation, like saving the display.

(the last error is a TclTk error because gdal_translate doesn't work)
