This "Invalid argument: can't _spawnl" has been reported also in
http://trac.osgeo.org/grass/ticket/629#comment:18
but I don't know if it is related.

I don't know either but r.contour didn't work with Vista a couple
years back either. I thought that all Vista problems were solved. But
maybe not. Or maybe there are new ones.
