I just tested making trunk with `svnversion` missing, everything seems to
behave well.
I suggest to backport the svnversion thing to 6.5svn (but not 6.4).
Not for 6.4 because we still don't know what happens when svnversion is
present but the code has had all .svn/ removed for release tarball.
