for the trac record, the shell scripts needed the programs called with
their full path in the command line, and now we are struggling with
getting quoting around +proj terms to be safe. Nothing is backported to
6.4 yet, and as g.proj and m.proj have changed I wonder if we should put
off backporting to the stable branch for a while until those get a bit of
solid testing time.
