The -v flag in r.to.vect is creating a corrupt vector file. It looks like
it is some kind of error reading the raster file, but is easier to show in
an image than to describe. I've attached a display of a file created with
the -v flag. It seems to work fine without the -v flag. This is with an
update from the svn trunk as of 24 Dec. 2010.
