I was just working with a couple postdocs using GRASS 6.4.0 on Windows. We
tried to enter the following command in the command line window in the layer
manager

r.mapcalc newmap=if(oldmap<=18000,1,null())

This generated an error saying that it could not find oldmap.

If we did this in the MSys terminal (adding single quotes as needed there) it
works fine.

r.mapcalc 'newmap=if(oldmap<=18000,1,null())'

I don't know if this is an error or if we were doing something wrong.

Maybe someone else more accustomed to GRASS for Windows can test.
