no idea about the wxgui bug, but fwiw in the scripting, ${} does nothing,
just use "$txt", and you can strip off the .txt from the output name with
either {{{ out=`basename "$txt" .txt` }}}, or back with the curly
brackets: {{{ out="${txt%.txt}" }}}.
