I noticed that 'CHARACTER' is used whenever the field width is known,
otherwise 'TEXT' is used. IOW, TEXT is what you probably mean with
CHARACTER VARYING. Note that e.g. within sqlite, varchar becomes TEXT
and varchar (%d) becomes CHARACTER.
