In r58684 adding a new layer (raster, vector - whatever) in the GUI
throws:

(wxgui.py:18403): Gtk-CRITICAL **: IA__gtk_widget_set_size_request:
assertion 'width >= -1' failed
}}}
The functionality seems not affected, but even if so, such messages should
not be printed on the user terminal.
