`g.version` improved in r61589 (diff similar to the provided one but it
has additional waring). `prompt.py` issue should be already solved and is
not part of this ticket.
I'm not sure if it make sense to wait for confirmation that it works as
expected (i.e. it reports something and does not break the dependent
things). It may take some time before we get the distribution with
problems as the ones before but it might be soon...
