Paul's solution was more consistent with the rest of the code in the
module, but I have no strong opinion on this, and so, if you think that it
would be better to reimplement your solution, I can do that.
Probably not worth it, I was mainly venting my frustration from the
readability of grass code... But I would still argue that consistency is
in case of grass not necessarily our main priority but that's for a
different discussion.
