Oops, fixed in the updated attached patch no_vector_default_region_2.diff.
About backporting: v.in.ogr in trunk is already quite different from
relbr72, and with this patch, it would be more different. IMHO, the fix
for OSM import and this fix are both bug fixes, i.e. once confirmed
working, patched v.in.ogr in trunk should be backported as is to relbr72.
